Opened my eyes to a whole new world...
Before the film, "Adopt-A-Jesus", when I saw a homeless person on the side of the road, I would swerve and just go on my way not thinking how that person could of been feeling that day. I never gave them money because I always thought they would use it for the wrong things. I watched the film "Adopt-A-Jesus" last night with a group of college students and it changed my way of thinking tremendously.
I thought the movie was a great documentary which not only opened my eyes to homelessness but opened my eyes on how we can help the homeless. When I saw the card board cut-outs of homeless people that others can pray for I thought it was a great idea. The film stirred a message in my heart and also in the hearts of many others that I talked to after the movie. The movie took my mind off of me and placed it on a much greater population that I didn’t think of often.
After the movie Brandt spoke for just a little bit. There was one thing that really stuck to my heart. He said that we have all of these ideas what we think homeless people will do if we give them money so we don’t give it to them, but who has ever told that homeless person that they can’t spend the money on that, they know no better. We have to show them what we can do to actually help, show them the right way so they will have something to follow. This really stuck to me and changed my way of thinking. Overall I think the movie and the whole experience was amazing. It put my mind on a real problem that tons and tons of people face every single day. It took my mind off of my little problems and on to something bigger.
I am thankful for Brandt, thankful for the movie and the discussion. This changed my life and I think this movie is something everyone needs to see.

If you ever wondered...
"For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline." 2 Timothy 1:7 NIV
As a believer in Christ as our Savior we all have a light that is shining inside of us. Most people have no idea how to react to suddenly being a light in this dark world we live in. God has used Brandt Russo's light to shine through this documentary in a way that is meant to illuminate your consciousness to loving others as you love yourself. Brandt's intention is not to shame anyone, but to relate to everyone's personal journey with God in finding a way to share the love Christ showed us with each other!"

The screen of Adopt-A-Jesus was...
I was lucky enough to be a part of the first screening and the room was filled with much anticipation as most of us have great friendships with Brandt.
The pre-movie atmosphere was, like I said, anticipatory because we knew that we were about to watch something that would inspire, encourage, as well as tell the blatant truth of homelessness being over-looked by the Church.
The movie experience was great. The shooting style lends to the reality of people's view of homelessness. The film exposes the hard truth of disregard and neglect of God's people. On a personal level I have looked inside myself to find ways to change my way of thinking in order to give more of myself and live a lifestyle of giving rather than living in ignorance.
As the movie concluded, the follow-up conversations were absolutely great. Everyone's faces were slightly "glazed over" from the harshness of the reality the film brought to light. Brandt's heart was made apparent from beginning to end and his willingness to be transparent for the sake of changing lives is something of a blessing for all who can experience it.
I am blessed to have seen this film and will not soon forget.
